WE DESIGN
The Design stage of any project provides the opportunity for exploring creative solutions that stand out and are tailored to the owner.
Why Choose Design?
The Design stage of any project provides the opportunity of exploring creative solutions that can ignite a garden space and bring a vision to reality.
Our design team have many years of turning initial ideas on a journey through the design process, so they can be turned into built spaces which meets budgets.
Imagination is a key component to making a space unique and it i s also the stage where cost-effective options can be tested
The design is also an important step which tests the proposed build to ensure that it is logistically and structurally sound.
Once a design is agreed, we will work out the technicalities, scrutinise the costs and develop a plan to take it into the construction phase if desired.
Why?
Within design, there is not one solution that fits all. We can tailor packages to suit each projects requirements, to develop a design solution which is special to you.
When?
Any time is a good time!
However - if you intend to build the design by a specific time-period, we can work with you to achieve it.
How?
The design process considers the existing condition of a space to develop a creative solution. The design process can also provide a technical aspect to ensure an accurate and tested build.

An opportunity to get to know the customer and determine exactly what is required within the design. It is also a chance to get to know the existing garden conditions and evaluate the brief and budget.
The initial design development involves truly understanding the existing site to evaluate it alongside the brief budget and visions to develop a plan of action.
Design ideas and inspiration can be tested to test concepts with a level of accuracy to test constructional integrity. At this stage there is more emphasis on getting the beauty and functionality perfect.
Once the concept has been defined, we will continue to develop the designs detail to ensure its structural integrity. At this stage we will also make sure that everything is definitely aligned to the budget and test the detail ready for construction. We also test the design to make sure the garden is in the best condition for flourishing once installed.
A prepared plan of works before construction commences significantly minimizes the risk factor of a project and provides a clear plan of work, as well as an accurate overall project cost.
Pre-Stage
Site Review
What is included:
-
Client Design Meeting
An in person or online meeting to understand what you are looking for, to understand the existing conditions of your garden and to get a feel of what your vision is. Design preferences will also be discussed.
-
Setting A Brief
At this stage we can begin to understand your budget a determine a suitable design brief. The brief will include all the components that are essential and other nice to haves. This step will be the skeleton to get creative and develop proposals, which brings all the components to life.
-
Determining Project Costs
We can develop a project cost strategy to ensure that the design works efficiently and is is fully in-line with the overall total cost you have in mind taking into account the landscape installation.
What is included:
-
Site Survey
We will assess the existing conditions of your garden space to determine the essentials and to get a feel for the potential opportunities. Understanding the gardens scale and attributes in real life is an invaluable step within the design process and we always promote undertaking this step, instead of virtually and through desktop information.
-
Desktop Site Review
Once all the information is gathered from our site survey, we take a step back and analyse / strategise the information to determine the best route of action.
This is where the design language and style preferences begin to be tested and scales for areas that are within the brief are first tested.
-
Opportunities and Constraints
Through information gathered from the site survey and desktop review. An effective design strategy will be used to determine all the opportunities and constraints that can be mapped on an outline diagram, showing the true locations within the garden plan. This exercise will be the crooks of finessing the design going forward and it will provide a skeleton to continually refer to as the design progresses.
Concept Design
What is included:
-
Concept Design Development
Concept design stage is the perfect place to quickly test out a variety of concepts and design styles for the customer to review and give feedback on their preferred preferences. It is also a quick and effective way to test out what works best for the shape of the garden and to indicatively find out what the best solutions are.
-
Initial Project Costing Exercise
Once the design has been developed to a higher level of detail and it is at a stage which the customer is happy with and agreed to test the costings - We will run the numbers to gather a more detailed projection of the overall project cost to install. Throughout the design process, we are constantly monitoring the project cost, however this is a great point to refine and develop efficient ways to provide as much value as possible.
-
Additional Revisions
If you would like to test the design even further or trial other methods, then additional revisions can be produced to get the design exactly how you vision it.
-
Sketches & 3D Visualisations
To gather a true sense of the concept design, we can provide sketches or 3D visualisations and even virtual garden walk-through. This can help gain a true sense of the design, showing what works and what may need to be tweaked before the design progresses any further.
Detailed Design
Construction Preperation
What is included:
-
Detailed Design Development
Spaces will be tested, measurements and levels will be determined and material choices will begin to be made.
The design will be developed and tested to ensure that all components work together.
-
Detailed Project Costing Exercise
By this stage a detailed design will have been produced and all the materials products and planting would be decided. An accurate cost which takes into account the labour to install will be determined to make sure everything is within budget. If necessary final alterations can be defined to value engineer.
-
General Arrangement Plan
A General Arrangement Plan will be produced which sets out the final design, spot heights, measurements, materials and planting. This will be used as the main reference, when going forward through the construction stage.
-
Planting Plan
A planting plan can be produced to show the planting species, the locations, quantities and spacings. This plan can be used as an accurate guide with planting information for when it comes to the construction phase.
-
Technical Details
We can provide technical details that show the way that elements with be constructed. These include build-ups, fixing methods and alike. When bespoke elements are included within a design, it is always recommended to ensure the design works, through producing technical details.
-
Additional Revisions
If you would like to test the design even further or trial other methods, then additional revisions can be produced to get the design exactly how you vision it.
-
Sketches & 3D Visualisations
To gather a true sense of the concept design, we can provide sketches or 3D visualisations and even virtual garden walk-through. This can help gain a true sense of the design, showing what works and what may need to be tweaked before the design progresses any further.
What is included:
-
Project Time-line
A time-line will be configured that sets out the plan of works and the projected timescales of all the components. This will provide a projected construction completion date. The completion date can be aligned to suit your calendar and date preferences.
-
Construction Logistics
A plan of action will be developed to ensure a smooth build takes place. Developing a clean and concise construction strategy will allow the work flow to always be ticking away, without any set-backs.
-
Setting Out Information
Precision drawn setting out plans will be provided to the construction team, with all the measurements, angles and level changes to provide a to the mm construction installation.
-
Waste and Removal Strategy
A plan will be devised to deal with waste. Opportunities may be available to recycle existing waste and for the remaining elements, we will create a efficient strategy for it to be removed.
-
Machinery & Materials Logistics
A plan will be prepared to ensure that if required, mechanical diggers and other larger machinery is suited and able to be maneuvered within the space. Materials will also be sourced and deliveries arranged at the perfect times to keep the project moving forward at a good and balanced pace.
-
Coordination With External Contractors
Some projects may involve collaborating with external disciplines, or other landscape parties. Coordination work may be required to ensure all contractors work runs smoothly, logistics are non-constraining and timings are perfected.
